Color Run 5k and I'm running for Boston tees

Hey everyone! This weekend we are running the Color Run 5k in Baton Rouge. I am super excited as this is my first "color" run. I had also signed up for another color run in July..I believe it was Color in Motion so it will be cool to compare the two.. My friend and I are running it and decided in support of the bombings in Boston, we would make shirts.

We are so excited to be able to wear them. I am currently taking orders on my etsy shop easypeasydesign and part of the proceeds will go to a charity to help the victims and their families of this tragedy.

Running for Boston

Hey guys!

Yesterday, I was shocked to turn on the news once I got home. I know plenty of people were. For something that gives us such pride and shows us so much dedication, it makes it even harder to see the tragedy that happened yesterday. I don't know how many of you follow Kidd Kraddick on the radio but he shared a comment posted by Patton Oswalt that I wanted to share:

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."

Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves that there is still good people out there and the world is not all bad. I feel like Oswalt pretty much sums it up.

As a side hobby, I make tshirts and tank tops usually for friends and local businesses..
Like this one I made for a race a month or so ago:

I was planning on making a shirt for this weekend and wanted to definitely put a mention of Boston.... I want to run in honor of the victims and their families. This got me thinking..what if I made shirts? Would ya'll buy them? I would love to do this so that runners all over could "Run for Boston" and I would love to raise some money and donate some to a reputable charity that would help these individuals. Please let me know what you guys think about this! I will try to come up with a design soon.

Bloggin' blues and an engagement party

Ever not know what to write about? When I started this blog I felt like I had so many things to talk about, and I couldnt wait to be like the clever, witty, hilarious women I read on a daily basis. I couldn't wait to be like them! Then, I start writing and realize, this shit is hard. Why am I not naturally witty?
Oh Shelton, I feel your pain.
Now that my school work is out of the way. It is on to last minute planning for the engagement party this weekend. I am terrified y' joke. What if everyone hates it and awkwardly stands around playing candy crush or god forbid, checking their Instagram.

Hopefully with enough food and alcohol, everyone will be satisfied!

On another note, I am running The Color Run in Baton Rouge next weekend. Any suggestions? Tips? Opinions? I am really excited. Is the Color in Motion the same thing? I just received a Groupon for half off Color in Motion. It ends today but I think I am going to get it. Anyone who lives in the Baton Rouge area or doesn't mind driving should definitely look into it. Definitely a good deal!

Spring break aftermath

Hey guys!
I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was a great ending to a unnaturally short (it seemed!) spring break! I honestly didn't do much over my break but just relax and work. It was nice to not have to panic about what assignment I had due that day. Unfortunately, I have two tests now that I am back from spring break and since I didn't even touch my bag since that Thursday...I am way behind! On top of that, we are having an engagement party this weekend! I'm nervous as there will be a little bit of everyone there but we are just doing a crawfish boil (YUM!) and having a very laid back get together. We have been together a long time and engaged for almost a year so this was really just an excuse to see everyone and eat some delicious cajun food :).

Now on to my Spring Training..although I did not make the 5 days I wanted to..I did make 4 which is still more than usual. We had a busy weekend with a wedding and two birthday outings so although after all of the alcohol, I should have ran, I did not have the energy..
I'm on Week 3 of C25K. It was very humid outside today when I went run and it literally felt like my lungs were on fire.. But I did the whole thing! Woop. Okay well I'm off to study some more.

Have a great day!

Spring Training 5K challenge

Hey guys! The weather has been beautiful down here and alas, I have no more excuses for not doing Couch to 5K!

Crescent City Classic and Easter Weekend

It was a beautiful weekend here in Louisiana (well except for yesterday..but I didn't mind..perfect napping weather!) Friday, S and I drove down to New Orleans for the night as I had the Crescent City Classic 10k in the morning!
